Scope of the Symposium

In the past three decades, surface analysis has advanced considerably and is now applied extensively in industries that use cutting-edge technology. The scope of this series of international symposia on surface chemicalanalysis covers the present status and future prospects of surface-analytical techniques in various practical applications. Special emphasis has been given to applications involving techniques such as Auger Electron Spectroscopy, X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy, Electron Microprobe Analysis, Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry, Scanning Probe Microscopy, etc. Important subjects for standardization will be discussed with examples from applications in different industries, reliability of the techniques, development of expert systems, numerical simulations, theoretical calculations, data processing, and support systems for analyses. Fundamental research contributing to improvements in surface-analytical techniques are also within the scope of this symposium. The 6th Korea-Japan International Symposium on Surface Analysis will be held in conjunction with the PSA-07 symposium. All scientists interested in the PSA topics are invited to attend the Symposium in the historic city of Kanazawa, Japan. Domestic VAMAS/TWA2 activity workshop on surface analysis is planned for November 29 to December 1 following the PSA conference.
