Date and Venue

The international symposium will be held at Ishikawa Ongakudo (the guide in English, in Japanese) in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Pref., Japan from Sunday, November 25 to Wednesday, November 28, 2007. The guide for access is shown here.
Kanazawa (the guide in English, in Korean, in Japanese) is located in the middle coast of Honshu (main) island facing Russia, China, and Korea, and is one of the old cities which has been preserving an old culture and view of Yedo-Era (17-19 century). Kanazawa is most famous for Kenrokuen Garden, one of the most celebrated gardens in Japan, and its autumn color is particularly extraordinary. Many kind of small museums in the city and nearby are also worth a visit. Kanazawa is also renowned for its crafts, such as the “japan”, i.e. “urushi” laquer, ware of fine art of gold (maki-e, shikki), the Kaga printed silk (Kaga-Yuzen), etc. It takes about 4 or 6 hours from Narita, Chubu, or Kansai international air ports to Kanazawa by train. The direct flight from Seoul to Komatsu international air port, the nearest airport to Kanazawa, is also available, but the flight number is limited. The climate of Kanazawa in this season is comfortable. The average temperature of this season is around 11oC, and the average low and high temperatures of this season are 7oC and 15oC, respectively.　And, in this season, it might be better for you to have an umbrella and to put on a coat. The ancient city with a historical and cultural elegance will warmly welcome you!
